Benjamin Sarcadi — Founder, President & Director

Ben Sarcadi is a decorated and disabled Navy veteran. He has held positions in various fields throughout his professional career. His experience in marketing, accounting, and business management makes him a valuable board member. Ben brings a deep understanding of structure, leadership, and mission-driven service from his time in the military. His passion for advocacy and inclusion drives his commitment to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. As a founding member of Breaking Barriers, Ben continues to shape its vision and impact. He believes true progress begins with empowering individuals to recognize strengths and create meaningful change in their communities.

Melissa Spicuzza — Co-Founder

Melissa Spicuzza brings nearly 20 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. She began her career as a Direct Support Professional shortly after high school and has since served as a House Manager for an Adult Residential Facility (ARF), Program Director for a nonprofit offering residential and behavior modification day services, and Coordinator for a supported living agency. As a co-founder of Breaking Barriers, Melissa plays a central role in shaping its mission and ensuring high-quality, person-centered services. She believes in building systems that empower people to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.

Jackee Lema — Board Member

Jackee Lema holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and brings extensive experience in global business development. As a long-time team member at Kyocera Global, she cultivated professional relationships with electronics companies across international markets. Her expertise in project management and sales also extends into community involvement, having volunteered for over a decade with her daughter’s softball team. Jackee’s ability to bridge professional and personal leadership makes her a valuable contributor to the Breaking Barriers Board. She is passionate about supporting inclusive initiatives and fostering opportunities for individuals of all abilities.

Christopher Sarcadi — Board Member

Christopher Sarcadi is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with broad experience across patient care, including pediatrics, adults, and end-of-life support requiring full ventilator management. Over the past seven years, he has worked at three major nonprofit hospitals in Northern Nevada and Northern Sacramento, building a strong foundation in clinical care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Christopher brings a compassionate, health-informed perspective to the Breaking Barriers team. His background ensures that each individual’s medical and personal needs are approached with professionalism, empathy, and dignity. He remains committed to advancing care that honors the whole person.

Alicia Green — Board Member

Alicia Green has built a successful career in finance and estate planning, where her ability to foster trust and build lasting client relationships has distinguished her in the field. She is known for her calm presence, clear communication, and the ease with which she guides individuals through complex financial decisions. Her unbiased perspective and direct approach bring clarity and balance to board discussions. As a member of the Breaking Barriers Board, Alicia offers valuable insight into fiscal responsibility and long-term planning. She is passionate about ensuring resources are used effectively to empower individuals with developmental disabilities.

Jennifer Sarcadi — Board Member

Jennifer Sarcadi is a Certified Medical Assistant with a strong background in geriatric care, gifted pediatrics, and family medicine. Her natural ability to make people feel comfortable, supported, and seen is reflected in every interaction. Jennifer is deeply committed to treating each individual with dignity and compassion, always meeting them where they are. She actively keeps pace with evolving medical research and resources to ensure her patients receive informed, up-to-date care. As a board member of Breaking Barriers, Jennifer brings a wellness-centered perspective and advocates for healthier, more accessible lifestyles for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Dylan Pettitt — Assistant Program Director

Dylan Pettitt serves as the Assistant Program Director at Breaking Barriers, bringing a diverse background in direct support, logistics, and community engagement. His hands-on experience across various industries, including warehouse operations, food service, and disability services, has shaped his adaptable, person-centered approach. Dylan is known for his ability to connect with individuals and foster inclusive environments where participants feel seen, supported, and empowered. In his leadership role, he supports program development, staff training, and the implementation of inclusive practices that reflect Breaking Barriers’ mission. Dylan believes that meaningful change happens when people are met with empathy, consistency, and the opportunity to thrive.

Robert Aicinena — Job Developer

Robert Aicinena brings an extensive background in business development and employer relations, along with a strong belief in the value of inclusive workplaces. He is passionate about connecting individuals with developmental disabilities to meaningful employment opportunities. At Breaking Barriers, Robert plays a key role in building relationships with employers and promoting the benefits of a neurodiverse workforce. His approach helps shift perspectives and create pathways that are both equitable and impactful. Robert believes that when businesses embrace neurodiversity, the entire community thrives.
