I enjoy clocking into work everyday knowing i have the opportunity to work with others and assist them in their daily lives. My co-workers & supervisors give me that same assistance when I need it. Answers are always a call or a message away. Supporting others resonates with me because i get to see others grow a step closer to achieving their life goals. As a person who enjoys helping others Breaking Barriers gave me the greatest opportunity to advise & assist others to their best extent.
I have been working with one of the team members of Breaking Barriers in developing and setting up an e-commerce Shopify store. The team member has been providing a lot of moral support and brainstorming in the area that I need assistance in.
Breaking Barriers is cool. I really like it here. Everyone is very nice to me. They care and listen when I have something to say. The staff isn’t on their phones all the time like other programs.
I like Breaking Barriers because I get to choose what job I want to be in. They respect my choices and help me with my goals.

In addition, the Staff is easy to communicate with because they are patient and listen to my needs and goals of getting a job. Lastly, my job coach is nice, respectful, and easy to work with.
Though I don’t always respond to the emails, I wanted to say how grateful we are for Breaking Barriers’ dedication. I appreciate my sister’s coach who is able to support her. I am not able to take care of my sister as you guys do. Forever in your debt. We understand how challenging it is. I lived with her for 30 years, most of the time, in the same room. Thank you very much!
The services which my son receives from Breaking Barriers have benefited him greatly. The DSPs who my son has been receiving support from have been very supportive, understanding, and patient with him. My son has started to come out of his shell and more meaningful conversations are now being held between him and his DSPs.
He has also learned more skills with the help of his DSPs. I am involved with his support and we are starting to problem solve with life skills and with his college classes, in which he has earned straight A’s. The DSPs have been taking my son out for walks in the neighborhood which he doesn’t want to do, but that is getting easier for him.
Breaking Barriers has truly made a big difference in both my son’s and my life. I am very grateful for their support.
Breaking Barriers has helped me learn the knowledge needed to apply for jobs. They have helped me create a cover letter, resume, references and learn questions interviews. This helps me throughout my career and my lifetime.

We were honored to be a small part of the Breaking Barriers job fair a few years ago, and it was truly a wonderful day. It was inspiring to see so many individuals being connected with opportunities in such a welcoming and supportive environment.
What stands out most to me is Breaking Barriers’ commitment to empowering adults with developmental disabilities through meaningful employment and person-centered support. Creating opportunities for individuals to build confidence, strengthen their independence, and become more connected within their communities is incredibly important.
Programs like Breaking Barriers don’t just help individuals find jobs—they help create a more inclusive community where everyone’s strengths are recognized and valued. Meaningful employment provides purpose, builds confidence, fosters independence, and gives people the opportunity to contribute in ways that benefit both themselves and those around them. At the same time, employers and communities are enriched by welcoming people with diverse abilities and perspectives into the workplace.
